Mockingjay - Part 2 Scraps 3D From U.S. Theatres

Lionsgate Entertainment has released some very important news regarding the release of Mockingjay - Part 2 that we are very pleased to hear. Yup, you guessed it! Lionsgate Entertainment took the right step and scrapped ALL 3D versions of Mockingjay - Part 2 from Domestic Theatres. Mockingjay - Part 2 will now release in Domestic/U.S. Theatres in the IMAX 2D and 2D formats! We are very pleased to hear this! Mockingjay - Part 2 will still open Internationally in the 3D and 2D formats.

The reason for this is to maintain the relative consistency of the franchise by releasing the final film in 2D like the prior three films. Director Francis Lawrence commented on the decision saying, "I love the 3D format and I know that Mockingjay - Part 2 will play perfectly in 3D and 2D Internationally - but I'm very pleased that we're maintaining the 2D only (and IMAX) formats domestically. It is the best of all worlds!"
